Experience Farm Life: Hands-On in Grey County

Farm on The Lake

Farm on the Lake near Big Bay offers experiences for the whole family to enjoy. Farm tours, bottle feeding baby goats, playing with goats, even on-site glamping. Tours offer a unique behind-the-scenes look inside the barn. Guests engage with the day-to-day responsibilities of a busy farm. Camping and glamping act as a form of retreat for visitors, giving them the chance to experience the beauty of Grey County while immersed in rural beauty. Certain experiences require advance bookings, available online. Goat feeding, the pet & play section, and giftshop are all available on a drop-in basis during operating hours.

Kimber Valley Farms

Kimber Valley Farms in Kimberley offers diverse experiences including tours, workshops, and ‘off grid’ cabin getaways. The farm tours are a "must-do", where guests can meet and interact with the Icelandic Viking sheep and other animals on the farm. Guests can even try their hands at processing fleece! These tours are offered year-round, and guests are encouraged to bring appropriate clothing and footwear. Workshops hosted by the farm cover topics like spinning, weaving, and dyeing. Cabin getaways include a choice of two cabins located right on the property.

Alpine Ridge Alpacas

Alpine Ridge Alpacas just outside quaint Craigleith, provides a range of fun on-farm experiences. The Alpaca Walking Tour accommodates up to 8 guests and features a private tour where visitors learn all about life on the farm while handfeeding the alpacas! The Goats & Giggles experience sends guests on a light stroll through the farm with goats leading the way! This guided experience is 45 minutes long and creates great memories (and lots of laughs) as guests get to know the goats. Don't miss Après Alpaca Wine - guests stroll through nature accompanied by alpacas before enjoying a delicious wine and charcuterie tasting.

Grey & Gold Cider Company

Grey & Gold Cider Company, just south of Thornbury, hosts a wide range of events alongside tastings of their ciders - all grown and produced on site. Tastings are offered year-round, during the summer months on a covered patio, in winter the patio is enclosed, and fire bowls and heaters make the space inviting and cozy.

Coffin Ridge

Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery found outside of Meaford, offers a unique tasting experience featuring a variety of wines, ciders, and beers. Pair your tasting with a selection of artisan cheeses and bread boards, or wood fired pizza - available on Saturdays, weather permitting. Enjoy the view from seats overlooking Georgian Bay and the vineyard, as well as tables inside the winery.
Coffin Ridge has a warm, welcoming atmosphere - dogs are permitted in designated areas, and guests under the age of 18 may visit in the company of adults.

Georgian Hills Vineyards

Georgian Hills Vineyards, just northwest of The Blue Mountains, offers experiences from traditional wine tastings, tours of the vineyard, to great events all year long. In the summer months, look for ‘Wine Wednesdays’ featuring local and emerging musicians from a range of genres. VineStock, their popular music festival, is currently being refreshed to return for the 2026 season. Walk-in wine tastings are available, but reservations are encouraged in the busy summer months.  

Aberdeen Acres

Aberdeen Acres Homestead, found just outside Flesherton, offers tours, and a wonderful selection of fibre art and specialty cut flower arrangements. Guided tours led by knowledgeable staff wind through the farm, stopping to meet the animals. The tour includes a stop at the Education Station, where guests learn about sheep and wool spinning, honeybees, and the day-to-day activities of planting and gardening. Cute fibre art, including handmade needle felted animals and Christmas ornaments, are available for purchase. Flowers are offered seasonally.

Twig & Brindille 

Flower Farm

Twig & Brindille Flower Farm in Markdale provides a range of workshops, tours and flower bar sessions. Book your experience today! Their workshops vary to suit the season. Options include Decorative Pumpkin Workshops, Grow Your Own Cut Flower Patch, Winter Wreath Workshops, and Delightful Dalias. The experience at Twig and Brindille is informative and engaging. Tour guides happily answer questions and explain the ins and outs of life on the farm. Additionally, visitors can book a session at the Flower Bar, creating their own arrangement of freshly cut blooms following a “floral recipe”.

Ginkgo Footprints Garden

Ginkgo Footprints Garden, located just outside Annan, offers a unique experience through public events hosted on the beautiful property. In the spring, look for in-depth garden tours showcasing more than 350 varieties of peonies. The garden is also home to thousands of other flowers, plants, and native wildlife. The site features an art studio, with select pieces displayed throughout the gardens, creating a space that celebrates local art and inspires visitors and creatives alike.
