/Hayden Powell - Grey County

Get the Most out of Your Stay

Located two hours from the GTA, Kimberley is a charming village perfect for a girl’s weekend away. Wind down by exploring the cafes, restaurants & shops within the village, spend the night in accommodations perfect for intimate gatherings, retreats, or a quiet night in nature. Found right in the scenic heart of Grey County, Kimberley is moments away from Beaver Valley, the Bruce Trail, and many paddling and cycling routes in the area.  This itinerary highlights several of the amazing businesses Kimberley has for you to explore.

Friday Evening

Kimberley General Store

Start your trip on Friday evening with a visit to the Top O’ The Rock grocery store in Eugenia on your way to Kimberley. They sell a great selection of local wine and ciders from Thornbury Craft Co. Cider, and plenty of local beer options. Continuing on, you’ll make your way over to the Kimberley General Store to stock up on goodies and snacks for your stay. From fresh local baking and strong coffee to frozen dinners and organic goods, the Kimberley General store is the perfect place to try out some new local products or pick up some classic favorites.

Justin’s Oven

After stocking up at the General Store, pop next door to Justin’s Oven for dinner. Justin’s Oven is a cozy restaurant that combines rustic charm with a touch of gourmet flair. The restaurant features homemade dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, ethically raised meats, wild-caught fish, and organic seasonal vegetables. Their variety of hand-crafted sauces pair wonderfully with dishes like the brisket sandwich, bison burger, wood fried pizzas, and poutine made with fresh cut fries and topped with house jus. The open patio has a perfect relaxed atmosphere under a canopy of umbrellas and string lights.

The June Motel

Once you are done enjoying your meal, it’s time to head over to the Beaver Valley location of the June Motel. With nature at your doorstep, these rooms (each with a king-sized bed) are perfect for a relaxing evening after enjoying all the area has to offer. They are decorated to match the signature retro aesthetic with playful patterns, and a rich color scheme - making you feel the warmth and comfort of a vintage country lodge. Wind down by taking advantage of the motels' studio space with provided yoga mats and meditation pillows. Post yoga, end your night by taking a few minutes in the sauna to enter a deeper state of relaxation, paired with a cold plunge in the river. Before heading out in the morning, stop by the parlour for complimentary coffee, tea and light breakfast.

Saturday Morning

Aberdeen Acres Flower Farm

Start your day bright and cheery by heading to Aberdeen Acres Flower Farm - proud growers of 100% locally sown, specialty cut flowers. Their nearly 2 acres of flower beds are handpicked daily, and offer a wide range of seasonal flowers with availability varying from month based on blooming cycles. Aberdeen Acres is dedicated to balancing the negative ecological footprint caused by imported flowers, and their community-first approach is evident in everything they do. The farm is also home to many Shetland and Valais Blacknose sheep whose wool is used to create unique fibre art - a perfect little keepsake.

Kimberley Cafe & Social House

After your adventure on the farm, a tasty brunch is in order, and there’s no better place to do it than Kimberley Cafe & Social House. They sell locally roasted specialty coffee, espresso drinks, and premium teas to get your mid-morning energy back up. Their unique coffee blend is produced within Grey County in Meaford. If you aren’t feeling coffee, try out their kombucha on tap. Fill up on baked goods from croissants and brioche cinnamon buns to banana bread and muffins; they have a great selection of treats to satisfy your sweet tooth.  If you are feeling extra hungry, they offer three kinds of Grab & Go Salad bowls; Asian Chicken, Chicken Cobb and Falafel Greek. The relaxed cafe environment is designed for conversation, creativity, and an ideal place for both locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

Saturday Afternoon & Evening

Old Baldy Conservation Lookout & Hike

In the afternoon, take in the beauty of nature with a hike to one of the best lookouts in the area. Old Baldy Conservation Area & Lookout is connected to 6 different trails with varying difficulty ranging between easy, moderate and difficult. Each trail offers an amazing experience perfect for whatever you feel comfortable with, beginners to experts; anyone would love exploring the area.  The shortest trail is a 15-minute hike from the main parking lot at Old Baldy and takes you to the edge of the Niagara Escarpment looking down from 150 meters above the Beaver Valley and beautiful Kimberley. The view is stunning at all hours, however, golden hour - about 45 minutes before sunset - is the ideal time, as the golden rays of the setting sun roll over the hills and woods of the valley.

Heart's Tavern

Next up on the itinerary is dinner at Heart’s, right at the north end of Kimberley.  They are a local tavern offering classic European fare, daily seasonal features, and a selection of beer, wine and cocktails.  They are known for their fantastic service which pairs well with the cozy, inviting ambiance.  The menu is well thought out, featuring high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. Notable dishes include smash burgers, steak tartare, smoked salmon, and cheesecake. Hearts is the perfect place to unwind with friends over an unforgettable dinner.

June Motel's Riverside Patio

Finish your evening at the June Motel's beautiful riverside patio, complete with a campfire under a canopy of trees and twinkling lights. This space is perfect for enjoying a bottle of wine, watching the sunset on the river and indulging in complimentary s’mores.
