Spend the day in the country learning how to make a variety of traditional, hand-shaped pasta...and enjoy eating it too! Come, on your own, or with your cooking partner to spend the day learning how to make fresh pasta from scratch with the most basic of tools: your hands and a bench scraper. If you have already attended the Handmade Whole Grain Pasta Workshop, this experience is new and exciting. While we'll follow the same format (mix dough, enjoy an appetizer, shape doughs, cook and enjoy!), the recipes will be completely different, as will the noodle shapes that we will be creating. We will each be making our own batches of dough and shaping up a ton of noodles! The noodle shapes we will focus on in this workshop are Busiate (Southern Italy), Trofie (North Western Italy), Capunti (South Eastern Italy), and Spizzulus (Sardegna). Let me tell you: making each of these noodle shapes is FUN and rewarding. We use the simplest of tools so that you can recreate each of these wonders in your own kitchen at home. Of couse, once we have shaped up all our noodles...it's time to eat them! I'll collect a few of the noodles that you have created and combine them with everyone else's to prepare two authentic and regionally diverse dishes for you to enjoy. The rest of your shapes are going to be packed up for you to take home and freeze. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available for consumption. If you'd like to enjoy something a little bit more celebratory, you are more than welcome to bring it with you! This workshop is part hands-on cooking class, part lunch out on the town. You will not go home hungry!
