Major Charles Stuart Heritage Plaque
A moving force behind the establishment of the Anti-Slavery Society of Canada, Stuart, who settled near Thornbury in 1851, devoted much of his life to humanitarian causes, strongly influencing the anti-slavery movement in England and the United States, and speaking fervently in support of temperance.
