Agnes Campbell MacPhail 1890-1954 Heritage Plaque

The first woman elected to the Canadian parliament, Agnes MacPhail was born near Hopeville. She championed many causes during her years in federal and provincial politics, particularly prison reform, improved health care, and rural cooperative movements.
